100 Conversations About Your Business

Do you have any idea what the last 100 conversations you had about your business were?

Talking about your business is key and can literally transform your marketing and your income.

It transforms your marketing because it puts new words and phrases together in a real life setting. You may notice yourself describing what you do in a more powerful way and that alone can create dramatic results. Verbal processing does wonders for finding the best way to say something!

It transforms your income, because as you connect with more potential clients, people will say YES to you more often! That’s simple math, the more you get out there the greater your chances are of people working with you.

Here’s something I keep on hand that helps me keep track of conversations and results. It’s a 100′s chart.

It’s nothing fancy, just a 10×10 grid with the numbers 1-100 in each box.(I grabbed this one from About.com’s section on teaching elementary grade math)

Every time I have a conversation with someone interested in working with me, I put a little note in the 100 chart. I even color code it so I can see at a glance what resulted from my conversations. I love this and have even had challenges with friends to see which of us reaches 100 awesome people first. (Warm and fuzzy high achievers, take heed!)

Here are some other ways you can use a 100 chart for your business:

1. Use it to track conversations you have where you’re directly making an offer.

2. Use it to track 100 times someone says YES or NO. (Sales pro’s say you earn your wings after 100 people say “no”  to you)

3. Use it to track how many offline connections you make with your social media network.

4. Use it to track sales.

5. 100 Tweets - pick your angle: retweets, people sending you props, people using your hashtag

6. 100 articles or blog posts

What else?

I love this tool because it’s so dang simple, it’s visual, and it is very motivating. It doesn’t require much more than an pen and paper and it sparks action.

Hi Nancy,Unfortunately, at the moment i am not successful enough to put these kind of numbers on my business, however once again a true internet voice reminds me that online success is actually a numbers game, and one of which i look forward to increasing my count! Thanks for that, great content as usual Nancy….Ed.

I love this, Nancy. As a woman who promotes other women becoming involved with their wealth management, it would be a great tool. Women tend to not discuss investing, period! Every time a woman has a conversation about investing, she makes a mark on the chart. The more she talks about it, the more comfortable, secure and knowledgeable she becomes.Thank you!

Thanks for the chart and the idea.It makes tracking results a no-brainer.

Hi Nancy,I love this. It reminds me of the sticker charts parents use to get their kids to do stuff. I always add the "treat factor" when I use tools like this. Give yourself a treat for every 10 or when you reach the 100. For myself, I get a lot more done if there's candy in it for me.I'm going to use this starting today and see how quickly I can get to 100 (although I'm going to treat myself at every 10).Thanks for sharing this!Ruth

I love this! What a great simple tool – and I'd add the gratitude piece. Being grateful for each and every one of these conversations (or actions) – no matter the outcome – will make the next one that much more fun and that much easier.

Ruth, I love the "treats at every 10" approach. That really chunks it down into doable steps. Great idea!

Gratitude is such an important part of this, thank you for bringing us back to that!

Camille, what a great incentive this is!
