Maria Reyes McDavis, The Web Success Diva, knows her stuff when it comes to making a great blog that is social networking friendly and effective.
I brought Maria on board to revamp my well trafficked blog and integrate it with the many social networking sites I’m active on. I feel like I was riding a tricycle and now I’m zooming by on a speed demon cycle. Better yet, I feel like the plain Jane who just removed her glasses, put on an evening gown, and is making the grand entrance into the ball. Wow!
Maria even made a video series to show the metamorphosis which I have here in 3 parts. She makes it look easy but I can only imagine the number of hours it would take to figure this all out. My suggestion: just hire Maria and have her do the job for you!

Maria, thank you so much for these videos. Your advice on using only one keyword rich tag in your post blew me away, because it is completely contrary to what I have heard from others.
And Nancy, congratulations on your new design, it’s beautiful. Now I know why they call Maria the Web Success Diva.
I just added your feed to my Google Reader and am looking forward to learning much more from you about PR and Social Networking.

Good videos, the before and after is striking. Nice work!
Quibble with having a single category and excessive worrying about duplicate content: It is good to limit the number of categories, but having several tags is good. They sound and act similar but I treat tags as more of a “loose list of keywords” and categories as more of a hierarchy thing.
You don’t really need to worry about duplicate content if you’re using robots.txt to prevent duplicate content indexing. Basically you just want individual posts, pages, and the homepage to be indexed. Everything else, like feeds and category archives you don’t want indexed. You can see my robots.txt for an example: http://nathanbowers.com/robots.txt

My first visit to your site Nancy - and I love it! This post caught my eye and the info that Maria shares is invaluable. I’ve previously only been in contact with you via Twitter, which proves Maria’s point well about using a variety of social media! Thanks for sharing.
