I think it depends on what the situation is and what you are marketing. In our ISP/VOIP marketing for business, we are saving customers up to 40%, which translates into HUNDREDS of dollars for multi phone users.

Customers sitting on the fence are calling begging to have service put in quickly. No need to mention a word about economic crisis.

Same holds true with my ehow articles, with exceptions I can now mention the economic meltdown in reference to making money etc. There has been a definite shift in what is earning money on those articles. Previously it was information about dogs. NOW I wrote an article on Social Security increase of pay (by reversing early retirement) and that article doubled revenue over others.

Same with articles on making money quickly. And hits to my article on buying a safe are larger than expected but no revenue showed up on its first night out. I didn't mention the economy... Maybe I should.

I say all that just to give a visual as to why I think its a play- it- by- ear, type of thing, Of course if my writing would improve that would help!

Thanks for wonderful topic. First one I've posted to in a few days.
