Previously, I instructed you how to create your topic to obtain more radio exposure.
Read it here!
If you want a radio professional to interview you, you need to skip the press release format and develop what’s know as a Hot Guest Sheet.
The first priority is to narrow the focus of your topic to develop a title that appeals to your audience. For example:
If you are a life coach, you may think about using, “Visualize what you want and get it – just like Oprah!”
A career coach’s title may be: “How to Ask For- and Get – a Raise in This Economy”
A safety expert might use the title “Keeping Your Kid Safe, Even While You’re at Work.”
Once you’ve got a terrific title, you need to complete the Hot Guest Sheet. Think of it as a speaker’s one sheet for radio. It is limited to only one page and highlights why you will be a great guest for the topic you have chosen.
Your Hot Guest Sheet should also include:
- Your credentials. If you’ve written a book, articles or even an ezine, mention it. You’re looking to show the producer you are an authority on the topic.
- A brief bio that really sells your personality. Give information that gives people insight into who you are, not just what you do.
- Give some idea of what the audience will learn from you. These should tease the producer, making him or her compelled to want to know more.
- A list of other places where you’ve been interviewed previously.
- Possible questions the interviewer can ask you.
- Your contact info
