In my last post, I went back to the basics and asked the big question: Why do you want more visibility?
And more importantly, how can you use the powerful tool of social networking to leverage your visibility so you not only show up everywhere, but you have a strong message to share.
Having your big ”WHY” is key… now it’s time to ask yourself “How” you’ll do it.
First, let’s address the issue of where to show up. For a quick rundown of the major social networking sites, read my post from July 2008 “It’s a Party All the Time With Social Networking”.
You’ll get the encapsulated summaries of Twitter, MySpace, Facebook, and Linked In. People always ask me which is the best site to start on and I say, go for the one that your ideal audience is on and that you feel comfortable using.
Next, you want to find ways to quicken the process so you don’t spend all day and all night obsessing over Facebook and Twitter.Lots of great solutions, check out How to Get Free Publicity and Attract New Clients with Social Networking for the master plan.

I’m a big fan of saving time with social networking, and for good reason. My business is one aspect of my life… I have a family, a home, and (brace yourself) a LIFE that doesn’t happen in 140 character Tweets.
Next post I’ll talk about how to show up once you’re there. That will be very important… remember, the “how to get set up” phase is a short one. The “how do I sustain success” is the long term goal.
