Here’s one from the Viva Visibility Mailbox that begs to be shared:

Hi Nancy:

Thanks so much for your tips and coaching thru your website. I am in the process of developing my expertise and that is where I have a question.

I have taken many courses in the area of travel, mobilizing people, personal finances management, leadership, organizational behavior and business development. I have professional certifications in the Travel Industry and a Bachelor in Business and Profesional Leadership. Now my question is How can I transfer this knowledge from books and trainings into an actual legitimate expertise?

Dear Y.M.,

I would lay out a 4 part plan for the next 6 months to 1 year:

  • Pick out what you want to do (you mention a lot of things in the letter)
  • get some clients
  • collect testimonials from them (builds credibility)
  • start establishing your expertise by publishing articles and short tips.

Before you start publishing, decide what it is you want to be known for. Figure out your business and your ideal client then work from there. So if it’s travel, then go with travel. Unless you can create some really awesome brand/business that combines travel and organizational behavior and business development (never say never, just figure out if you’re the one called to do this) then I suggest narrowing it down.

Some great places to publish online:

www.IdeaMarketers.com

www.EzineArticles.com

www.SelfGrowth.com

There are many more but those are my top 3 faves. They have great guidelines and wonderful support.

Identifying your target market is a key component of my upcoming class How to Get Free Publicity and Attract New Clients With the Power of Social Networking  running August 5, 7, 12. 14. You should already be somewhat established to get the most out of this course (I would advise someone in Y.M’s situation to get some clients first and work out any kinks)

Early bird sign up lasts until July 22. Check it out and learn more HERE
