This is What I Want For You (Insights From Writing A Sales Letter)

My recent post on staying relevant struck a chord deep within myself and others. What’s important to remember about this is to find something that works for you, meets a pertinent need in the market, and makes money.

That’s just a little aside. What I really wanted to share is how writing a sales page gave me a huge blast of insight and opened up my voice in a way that I really like.

The sales page is geared towards people who want to work with me but either a) don’t want to commit to long term mentoring, b) only have a single question they want my insights on, or c) want to do something short term with me before committing to something bigger. Staying relevant is always a big topic, so it’s very timely.

I’m not selling a program with 4 modules and a Q and A call, I’m not selling a live event with 3 days of seminars and X deliverables… what I’m offering is actually more about the potential of a business, the vision of a business owner, the power of being in the spotlight, and a strategy to get there.

So out of my fingers a series of statements started to flow. By the time I was on the 3rd bullet point, it felt like a manifesto. A vision. A dream I have for you. And no, I’m not trying to get all metaphysical or squishy on you, but there really are some people in this world who can see beyond what you can see for yourself and help you make money with that. I’m one of those people.

This is what came out:

Here’s what I want for your business:

  • I want it to be profitable and abundant.
  • I want you to be the voice people listen to… not just another noisy, yakking marketer.
  • I want your competition to vanish into the ethers… at least in the minds of your ideal clients. You should be the only one on their minds. True love at its deepest.
  • I want you to stand strong, tall, and proud as the expert that you are. No slouching…
  • I want opportunities to fall out of the sky and into your lap. Maybe you’ll sustain a bruise from pinching yourself (“Is this real?”) but you’ll survive. And you’ll be happy.
  • I want you to say “NO” to not-so-ideal-clients and feel great about it… because you’ve got plenty of other prospects and you only work with people who make you smile. No more Mr./Ms. Wrong.
  • I want you to march to the beat of your own drummer and feel the freedom of moving forward with a creative idea.
  • I want you to be relevant in the market, in the eyes of your clients, and in your industry.

Maybe you’ve tried programs and coaching in the past and you’re hesitant to dive into a big commitment… maybe you’re not sure if you want to settle down with me.

From that point, there’s a call to action (ie, instructions on how to hire me) and information on how long this will be available.

I like this because it’s clearly a vision for YOU (if you’re my ideal client, this is where you self-identify and nod a big YES). It’s an accurate reflection of me and my style (creative, never seeing the impossible, championing you all the way, humorous, a tad sassy/flirty).

If you’re interested in the offer of working directly with me, this really is a good one and is limited so take action now. Here’s the link to the page to secure your spot while they last.

I’d also like you to look over those bullet points and share (in the comments below) which of those is the most important to you right now. Whether you’re already doing it or aspiring, we’d all love to hear your thoughts.

I’m all over having opportunities fall out of the sky – as long as they don’t hit me on the head and render me unconscious! And, I really appreciate that you are noting the importance of marching to the beat of your own drummer. As your client, I know your beat and my beat are in totally different bands and I think it’s amazing that you provide great guidance for someone like me with such a different style, pace, energy…

Hopefully no one will be injured by falling opportunities, I’ll have to put a disclosure in my next contract. :-)

I’ve learned that the beat my drummer plays is always a few steps off for others, so that’s why I give my clients guidelines and examples of what’s worked for me…then we work on customizing it to their style. Glad you see that too!

thanks for the insights… always appreciate hearing from Your Wise Voice!

I’ll be focusing on the profitable and abundance, which can only happen if I’ve got a bit of the others too!

It’s a combo, Lakshmi! Let me know how it goes.

Maria, me and Inner Nancy (LOL) are jumping up and screaming big YAYS for you and Corazon. What you said has crossed my mind too:

“From a logical standpoint, it would seem counterproductive to take this prime time to “play” when our immediate objective is “being profitable and abundant”

This is where faith really steps in. And for you, a woman who believes so strongly in magical blessings and the creative process, I can’t see any other way to go about this.

Your comment actually is inspiring (and reminding) me to also lead more strongly from a place of faith (which I equate with the magic/creative/spiritual/higher power/source). Logic is necessary for parts of the process (implementation, etc) but can’t be relied upon for creative inspiration. It steps in like a frumpy old aunt telling us to wear buttoned up white shirts with starched collars when really what we want to do is to be beautiful and free.

You rock, Maria, and I can’t wait to see how 2012 unfolds for your biz!

Thank you Kim! And I was reminded by a friend to make sure I apply those same desires to my own business. Love how it all fits!

    big cheers right back atcha!!!
