I have been spending the past few days wedged between two major wildfires that moved from the hills into nearby neighborhoods in Orange County, CA.

Driving up the 55 freeway, I snapped this picture of what I was driving home to and posted it to TwitPic:

This is a shot of my last glimpse of blue sky near my house…

I’m really grateful to everyone who sent me love and support during this. My wildfire wisdom can be summed up in this Tweet I sent out Sunday:

Wildfire wisdom: 1. Family OK 2. Computer back up packed & ready 3. All else can be replaced

  • Oh my gosh Nancy, I had no idea you are in the middle of that. I hope you and your family keep safe and that the fires stay put and away from you.

That's crazy. I saw the video the other day of Chrstopher Llyod from Back to the Future. Everything he had was melted, nothing was left of his motorcycles. But he took it calmly. Either that or he was in shock.

  • First, thank goodness you and your family are safe!

We had a fire where we lost our home, but not all the contents, just most as the smell of it gets into everything. It does make one reevaluate!

  • Thanks, we're very grateful to be safe at home. Many of our friends had to evacuate and a woman in the grocery store had lost everything. Really makes you evaluate the important things in life.
  • It's all about the gratitude of what we have!!!! Stay safe. Love, Ali
  • Nancy sending all my love to you and yours :-)
