I’ve been using Jott for a few months now because I’m one of those souls afflicted with the Great Idea While Driving syndrome. As soon as my hands grip the steering wheel and I zone out into a great song, the ideas start flowing.
Jott, if you aren’t familiar, is a free voice to text service that jots down your quick messages and sends them to you.
So here’s what I do, and mind you I’m wearing a headset and using the voice activation mode on my cell phone so as not to be a highway nuisance.
I call my Jott phone number (you’ll get your own when you sign up). I say a voice command, then I spew out that million dollar idea, the solution to the world’s ills, or a reminder to take care of something at home.
Jott will then give me options to have this sent to me as a text message or an email. The spelling is sometimes iffy, but when your last name is Marmolejo that is not an uncommon occurrence, so I forgive them for that.
What’s even more interesting is that Jott now can send your voice notes directly to Twitter, Facebook, WordPress, Google Calendar, and more. I have to admit, I was a little fearful Tweeting from Jott, hoping they wouldn’t misspell something so badly that I would end up with 30 @replies including the letters “wtf?” somewhere within.
I spoke slowly and clearly, and kept it simple. Seems like it worked:
Interested in knowing anyone who is using this and if it seems like a good idea to trust voice to text software for your social networking.
