TweetBeep is a free service that is set up to alert you every time a certain phrase or name is used on Twitter. You can set up TweetBeep alerts for your name, your business name, @ replies, or a certain phrase. If you use Google Alerts to monitor keywords or phrases as they appear online, TweetBeep does that for you but strictly related to your Twitter stream.
At first this may seem like a vanity search on your name, but it also serves as a reputation management tool, that is, being able to watch your name and make sure it’s being associated with what you want it associated with! You’ll see who is mentioning you, retweeting you, and also mentioning your phrases you want to watch.
TweetBeep will deliver a daily report to your inbox so you can see exactly what is being Tweeted about as it pertains to your interests.
Here is how to get started:
1. Go to www.TweetBeep.com and set up an account.
2. Select “New Keyword Alert”
3. Fill in the information on the form. You can select an exact phrase, a message from a particular person, even Tweets that have a particular “attitude”. I suggest you set up for your Twitter name (no spaces in between), your actual name (with spaces), and any keyword you want to track. You can even track who puts smiley comments in their Tweets to you.
4. Select “New Domain Alert” and enter your domain name. You can also enter in the domain name of a page you want to track, such as a blog page or a sales page.
5. Depending on what frequency you’ve selected (hourly or daily), you’ll start getting emails delivered to you summarizing how your word, phrase, or domain name came up in the stream.
You may not always have time to monitor the Twitter stream and TweetBeep makes it easier. Not all @replies reach you, so using this tool will help you track your visibility on Twitter.
