When Irony Doesn’t Work: Jumping the Shark

Here is an epilogue to the Irony is In Series… because sometimes irony just doesn’t work!

The phrase “jumping the shark” is a term used when a TV show has outlasted its credibility and sinks into decline. Fonzie jumping a shark in the waning era of Happy Days was an attempt at clever irony, but it ended up in the “Huh? What were you thinking?” pile.

As you look around for ways to play up unexpected quirks or traits, don’t drift into the sea of incongruence. Make sure that everything you reveal supports your credibility and makes people see you as a more interesting person. That’s what Sizzibility is all about: adding magnetism and intrigue to your public presence.  When I work privately with clients, we focus on what makes each person stand out in their own unique way. No gimmicks, no shticks, no jumping of sharks. If you’d like to find out what that could look like for you and your visibility, learn more by visiting this link:
